Code Blue

I just finished watching code blue, a Japanese drama about 5 university interns training to become a flight doctor. They will have to ride on the helicopter to the accident location to save the victims and transport them back for further treatment. For the first two episodes it was not really that interesting, they used too many medical terms that I hardly could understand. However, for the later few episodes, the story gets more exciting and touching. One thing about Japanese drama is that they hardly focus on love and relationships, they mostly touch on family and on the theme itself. For this show, they showed how the interns learn throughout their training in the hospital and the decisions they made during emergencies. I guess the last episode was the most exciting of all, there was this accident in a highway tunnel and more than 50 people were hurt. The interns were sent there to save as many victims as they could, they showed how they never gave up on any victims and trying to save them all.

Besides that, there was a part when the senior doctor tried to save one intern from falling structures and end up unable to become a surgeon any more. One thing about the show, the operation scenes were very real, they often made the scene very bloody, exposing the body tissues though they were all fake. I am looking forward to its special series coming out in early 2009. This is a must watch japanese drama!
